Green Dot Public Schools' leaders spoke Oct. 16, 2009 in Denver about the charter network's efforts to turn around Locke High School in the Watts area of Los Angeles. While Green Dot successfully operates a number of small high schools in urban LA, the network has never attempted to transform a neighborhood school serving 3,000 students in the heart of gang territory. The talk focused on the challenges and some indicators of success in the first year.
