Fluoride is one of the most toxic substances on earth, on par with arsenic and lead.

It has no proven biological use inside the human body (teeth included).

There is no minimum daily requirement for fluoride. And second, it is a cumulative poison.

Only about half of what we consume is excreted. The other half collects in the teeth and bones, making them dense, but brittle.

Those little white spots visible on the teeth of many children are called dental fluorosis, a condition which not only predisposes them to decay, but also provides a sign that systemic fluoride poisoning is taking place.

Dental fluorosis appears to serve as a red flag for future bone fractures as well.

Fluoride was crucial to the H-bomb makers. It was needed to help process uranium; tons of it were needed.

During the mid-1940s the DuPont Corporation supplied the U. S. military's Manhattan Project with the fluoride it required.

There was a big problem, however. The area in New Jersey surrounding the DuPont plant was being contaminated by toxic fluoride emissions.

People were made ill, cattle and horses were crippled, and crops were either contaminated or completely wiped out.

In preparation for an impending court battle the Manhattan Project authorized the military to conduct its own fluoride studies.

Not only did they want information which would help diffuse the farmer's anger, but they also needed to know to what extent the fluoride workers were being damaged from fluoride exposure.

Some of the lab studies were performed at Strong Memorial Hospital, the same facility which injected toxic, radioactive plutonium into unsuspecting human guinea pigs.

Research from that time showed that fluoride had a negative impact on the central nervous system. This corroborates recent research showing the same thing--to the extent that the IQ's of children in fluoridated areas are lower than normal.

Most people are aware that there is a controversy surrounding public fluoridation of drinking water. Here is a list of ways to obtain drinking water without fluoride. In addition, I've listed water purification methods which do not remove fluoride from water.

Ways to Remove Fluoride from Water
•Reverse Osmosis Filtration
This is used to purify several types of bottled water (not all), so some bottled waters are unfluoridated. Reverse osmosis systems are generally unaffordable for personal use.
•Activated Alumina Defluoridation Filter
These filters are used in locales where fluorosis is prevalent. They are relatively expensive (lowest price I saw was $30/filter) and require frequent replacement, but do offer an option for home water filtration.

•Distillation Filtration
There are commercially available distillation filters that can be purchased to remove fluoride from water. On a related note: When looking at bottled water, keep in mind that 'distilled water' does not imply that a product is suitable for drinking water and other undesirable impurities may be present.

These Do NOT Remove Fluoride
•Br1t4, P/_/r ( note:L337 writting :D ), and most other filters.
Some websites about fluoride removal state otherwise, but I checked the product descriptions on the companies' websites to confirm that fluoride is left in the water.
•Boiling Water
This will concentrate the fluoride rather than reduce it.
•Freezing Water
Freezing water does not affect the concentration of fluoride.

Steps to Reduce Fluoride Exposure
•Don't take fluoride supplements.
•Read labels on bottled beverages.
Unless they are made using distilled or reverse-osmosis water, they are probably made with fluoridated public water.
•Consider using unfluoridated toothpaste.
•Avoid drinking black or red tea.
They come from two different types of plants, but both leaves naturally contain high amounts of fluorine.

•Be wary of tinned fish and canned food items.
Fluoride may be used as a preservative.
•Avoid black or red rock salt or items containing black or red rock salt.
•Avoid using chewing tobacco.
•Avoid long term use of medication that contains fluorine.
Certain antidepressants and medications for osteoporosis contain fluorine.

and dont be lazy, take care of your health, cooking your own food is supposed to be FUN :]

get a natural toothpaste from a naturist shop and stay away from anything associated with fluoride.

@jparenti03 All this said is there is no information either way. Who cares where it came from? The effects of fluoride are vast and horrible with NO BENEFITS! No benefits?....then why is it in water? Look it up there are at least 18 medical studies on the matter in many countries.

@jparenti03 any chance YOU dont know what YOU are talking about? Fluoride in water was first thought of by Nazi's to keep the people subservient. We then adopted the idea after liberating Europe and getting our hands on the studies they did.

Fluoride is a perfectly safe additive to water and toothpastes. Fluorosis is the reason that infants shouldn't drink fluorodated tap water exclusively -- but it's a purely cosmetic condition and has nothing to do with the structural integrity of the tooth.

This is irresponsible fearmongering by people with no idea what they are talking about.
