Some people think of solitude as isolation from everything. They think being a loner and solitude are the same thing. In fact the dictionary definition would seem to reveal this idea; solitude is when you are by your self. We even use solitude as a punishment in prison. (e.g. "I have been in solitary confinement for 21 days!") It is easy to mix these ideas in to our understanding of christian solitude. It may even be possible that I am misusing the word and twisting it to my own understanding. But before your reject this, consider what Jesus says in Matthew 6:4, "...And your Father who sees in secret..." In truth complete isolation does not exist for the Christian. God sees us and the Holy Spirit is with as all the time. So when we talk about solitude and isolation, we must make room for God. And when we make room for God we realize that He was already there and His precence fills the room to the extent that no room can contain Him. No place will contain God, because God is in everyplace. So never are we alone. Never are we truly isolated. Solitude is truly only intentional separation from others for a time in order to see God.

  • thank you so much for your video. What you're doing is so important :) I'm going to try again to reconnect with God. I hope it works.

  • @magdalena8188 How are you connecting to God? Where are you looking? the Bible says, ""Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you."

Jesus us talking about Himself there!

  • This video is repeatedly saving my life ♥

  • @doogwood it's true. Solitude is a gift. Jesus and Apostle Paul were both given this gift. There are some that should embrace a life of singleness and solitude. I definitely agree that different people will have different relationship. But I maintain that relationships are good for us. I guess I would ask, "Is your solitude joyful, like being on the top of a mountain or is it crushing like being under the ocean?

  • @josephpetepickle It seems ironic then Jesus our lord and savior never took a woman for a companion. And it also seems ironic that the catholic church itself forbids priests from marriage. I guess what I,m saying to each person, relationships can be different. Some people need others to survive while other people are conditioned to be alone,,

  • @doogwood this is NOT a matter of sin... It is a matter of good and best. God created us to live in community. (Marriage, family, friends, the Church, etc.) God Himself lives in community with Himself (He is a Trinity, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit). When he made man, he than said, "It is not good for man to be alone." (that's when he made Eve!)

Relationships are hard. They sometimes hurt. But they are really the greatest treasure man can know on this planet...

  • @josephpetepickle but if i have solice and contentment in my life why is it necessary to go seek others? It is not a sin to not socialize with people is it? I do not have hatred towards those i work with its just i dont want to have them as friends..

  • @doogwood Jesus says that the greatest commandments are to 1) Love God 2) Love others. John the Apostle makes the argument that you can't do either if you don't do both. Learn to love. Find people and live in community. Find a church (Body) to be a part of. This could change your life like you wouldn't believe!

  • I consider myself a true loner. I keep to myself and rarely socialize with people i work with. I dont feel lonely as God is always beside me watching over me and helping me make the decisions that guide my life. He is an unbelievable friend,,and the only 1 I need in my life
