i think john should've had an extra horse in the barn and ride out with jack and abagail.and went to mexico where they would try and find Irish or the who helps john kill javier and bill and tryed to form an army with them again and wait in mexico and kill Edgar ross and mr.Fordham when they reached mexico after that they would go back to mexico and meet Bonnie and start over and try to make a new ranch if their old one wasn't destroyed. in western times the devil was describe as a man wear a top hat and a black suit the three bullets he shot kill john,abigail,and uncle jack didn't die because his gun jammed when he was gonna shoot the fourth one. and did you notice that he shot at him where all 3 were buried?

The thing is that John didn't want to be alive anymore. Obviously he knew he could have left out of the barn and gotten away, but at that moment (when he looked outside) he realized he couldn't run forever and put that burden on his family. He sacrificed himself by walking out of that barn down 20 to 1 so he could finally die and his wife and son could live their lives without being forever hounded by the government. THAT was John's redemption, and IMO what the title of the game references.

Why do want him to survive? The whole point of the story is about former outlaws facing up to what they've done. You can't have people dealing death but not taking it themselves. I refer you to Budd Cowboy from Kill Bill -- a true son-of-a-bitch, but he was wise enough to know, 'That woman deserves her revenge, and we deserve to die'.

The 3 shots could have been for Himself, His wife and Uncle, all 3 died at the ranch, and as he went to shoot the 4th the gun jammed, the 4th bullet that didn't get shot represents Jack, who survives

goddamnit read another spoiler on these comments by accident. anyway, when john walks out of the barn and automatically dead eye's, would it even be possible to kill them all or enough to get away to fight? i could have sworn i hit the agents when i shot.
