BOOM here we go. By far the fan favorite of the Mega Man series, amazing music, useful weaponry, memorable stages, founder of the infamous Metal Blades, and features 2 difficulty settings. The American release features a "Normal" and "Difficult" mode. However in reality it is an "Easy"/"Normal". Americans just suck at games.

So this one is on difficult.

REAL speed runs use a better boss pattern, picking up items 3-2-1 as fast as possible to use in the other successive stages. I'm a nub and didn't even think to change my pattern when playing this, thus from the very start won't be able to rival some of the really good times. Plus those guys play on Easy anyway =P

Anyway, this part is really bad IMO, the narration over the playing is just boring and bland and not entertaining, I really wanted to redo it but figured I don't know how else I'd go about it. The next 3 parts are much more fun, so don't let it scare you off. Gotta finish what you start afterall.

In this piece, I take out Metal Man, Wood Man, and Air Man.

Metal Man: Stage goes okay. Some spots give me no choice but to wait, other times I'm a little sloppy on my jumps. Boss fight starts off great, but then I really start screwing it up. This time could be much better--especially if you don't start with Metal Man.

Wood Man: Pretty good level overall. I could use a little less Metal Blade spam, and make a few more jumps over big enemies like the roosters/bunnies but nothing too drastic. Don't get hit on the stupid fire dogs either =/. Boss fight went well, very little difference in time of fighting him due to his shield.

Air Man: Level went great. As I took like 50 tries before I got this run that I liked. Still could be a smidge better, unlucky on the boss pattern but 90% chance or so of not being able to kill him before he jumps to my side of the room.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
This run is conducted on a Jnes emulator. While I DO own the original copies of the game, I have no way to record them. It is the original NES version of the game played with a PS2-shaped usb controller. A really really crappy controller. Sometimes causes me to fail.

Due to screen recording/emulating, sometimes the screen/audio blips. This becomes much more apparent in the Wily stages when more stuff is going on at once. Dunno what to do about it, sorry guys.

  • I also personally liked Mega Man 3 the best of all the series. It had a solid music track, great weapons, and it brought back the ghost robots of Mega Man 2 to fight against. Classic.

  • @aghinem Despite me liking 3 so much, the Doc Robot feature is what I hate most about the game. Its annoying, difficult, frustrating, its just SO many bosses and you have no idea what weakness will work on them when its a new game. They're all harder in 3 than 2, and you fight 2 per stage is a bit much.

I find most the weapons in 3 suck. A few are ok, but like... Search Snake? Spark Shock? Worthless. Needle is "good" but hardly different from your buster. Knuckle is clumsy, Gemini is risky

  • Not sure if you know this but if you shoot 3 Metal Blades, then pause the game, and shoot the fourth Blade, you don't lose any energy. You shoot four Blades, and it takes one pellet of energy, so when you shoot three and pause, it resets it. I know you wouldn't want to do it here because it's a speed run, but just wanted to share that.

  • @CloakedEmotions Lol thats hilarious, the ammo is already near-infinite and yet you can MAKE it so should you put the time into it.

    Sighhhh what a weapon.

  • The first time I played Megaman 2, I got the Metal Blade and thought "Wow, this is broken." Then I realised that you can fire it in different directions.

  • @Mustardear xD wonderful way to put it.

  • megaman 2 is by far my favorite! bar none hands down!

  • I quit watching after I heard "nub" for the 15th time. There's a line between "classic gamer" and "socially embarrassing nerd", I guess I'm just on the wrong side for this video. Time to find another speed run...

  • i do flashman first :D

  • awesome speed run. like the comments

  • I like the commentary during the speed run nice. Shit hits the fan I like that lol. I do agree though Mega Man 2 and Mega Man 3 are so close to being my favorite Mega Man. Slightly 2 more because 3 has a broken master robot system spark-magnet-hard-top-shadow-top see it repeats then snake-gemini-needle-gemini.. They kind of fucked up there, but then again the metal blade is broken in #2 so by far each one has a flaw, but still by far my favorite Mega Mans! Each one has amazing music though!

  • but 2 is the best

  • Best music in a video game? Answer: Mother Series. lol

  • i battled him and lived with 1 bar of life on the first try and when the thing switchs you can just run to him and he jumps away :D

  • I like to start with Heat man.

  • Shit hitting the fan for air man. When you said that in the video I totally pictured one of the monkey type robots from Wood man's level throwing shit at him and hitting him in the grill. Shit deffinatly hit the fan on that one, lol.
