I don't get how she "sounds southern" but if you really think she does, it's probably because she's from Kentucky. I live 2 hours north of where she is from. No one around here "sounds southern" though because it's the very northern tip of Kentucky. I could be in Cincinnati, Ohio or Lawrenceburg, Indiana within 30 minutes.

The performance is good, but I still don't have any respect for her. This song uses so much samples from the Twister Gang Mix from the video game The World ends with you. The official music video even has a similar setting (notice the guy with head phones in the beginning). The sad thing is that her video has 12 million views on youtube, while the original has like 70000. plagiarism at its finest...

@flynstl1 The baby talk is probably to preserve her voice, it’s a tech thing a vocal coach will tell you to do if you are losing your voice.
