This was still them going with the trend of the day. I like the entire Kinks' span of music, but for me the best stuff started a year after this when they chiseled their own identity (U.S. ban necessitating) & went into the realm of concept albums.

Something Else is so so under-rated - like much of Ray Davies' work. This song is a gem, but then there are so many on this album and to top it all, Water loo Sunset and End of the Season. Practically invented a whole sub genre of music later mined by Madness, Blur, Squeeze, The Jam, Supergrass and so many more.

I heard it sober and trippin' and I still think it's the greatest song ever.

It may kinda suck when your sober but if you're trippin it's beautiful.

This song has to be listened to in stereo. The mono version on the CD reissue loses the whole effect.
