Virtually every track on this blistering DVD is either a hit or a classic album track
from the legendary Stranglers.
The Stranglers formed in September 1974 in Guildford, Surrey. They began as a pub
rock group, but later branched out to explore other styles of music using psychedelia,
Doors-like keyboards and the driving aggression of punk and new wave.
The great tunes, the driving bass lines, the melodic guitars and the intricate keyboards
gelled and in no time they had a album-full of classics under their belts including 'No
More Heroes' and 'Peaches'. They were anti establishment, anti music press and in
danger of self parody at times, but their innate humour, and black leather clad style
somehow transcended the criticism of the politically correct. Even when Hugh Cornwell
left they continued their rampaging style, with Paul Roberts taking over on lead vocals.
They enjoyed some of their biggest success with softer melodies like 'Strange Little Girl'
and, of course, 'Golden Brown' and that side is reflected in the additional acoustic set
on this DVD. Now they are a hard driving aggressive combo that still sell out venues all
over Europe, and their last album Norfolk Coast is well represented here.
