The problem with the word "depression" is that it means so many things. Some people think it is a personality trait, but the medical definition of "major depressive disorder" is something entirely different.

very inteligent and clear speaking girl. It takes having gone through depression to know what it's like. After the experience, one is more compassionate of others who have it. I had it for many years and was very suicidal. Things are perfect today, but i've come to accept that each day is a gift.

Depression is worse than death. At least with death you dont feel anything. Depression is living life of pure hell without any hope that it will ever getting better. Depression is emptiness, loneliness, inertia, fear, anxiety all rolled into one.

Its the hell i have lived in most of my 50 yrs.

there is no time to be depressed. it is very personal feeling, weakness at this very moment that will never come back....get strong, hold onto your strength, and never give it up or let anyone to take it away from you no matter what they do or say to you. change things. make things happen. it's your life, your decisions...time is running out...hold onto your hopes, dreams, friends, hobbies, job (or jobs), it all help to stay afloat...there is so much more to say...God, got to get going. visit me
I'm sorry guys, but I'm going to disable comments. I try to be open minded to discussion, but I'm sick of the uninformed rubbish that this video has become a forum for.

Depression is self imposed. it has to do w/ the ego; not biology.
That depression is a chemical imbalance is the biggest lie in the world. There is a self image that one has to live up to. Depression is the price you pay to keep your false image intact.

Right... we should all ignore what those who hold Ph D's in psychology say, and we're obliged to listen to an anonymous Youtube post.
You and Tom Cruise would get along well.

in the UK we have a saying that people (strangers or otherwise) say to people who look unhappy. It is 'cheer up, it might never happen'. I don't know if you have this in the US. People say it frequently and I know what you mean, it is very intrusive for (particularly a stranger) to make the observation that you look unhappy when you are just going about your business.

No, I've never heard that saying, but it kinda sums up what I mean. Some people have ideas about how you should feel and can be very intrusive about that. When you try to force a feeling, it often feels fake.
