On March 8th, 2006, the Iowa Army National Guard flew the three spans of the Hale Bridge from the Olin/Hale staging areas to the new home across the Wapsipinicon River at the Wapsipinicon State Park in Anamosa, Iowa by helicopter. The refurbished, 126-year-old Hale Bridge was built by King Iron Bridge Company. The Hale Bridge was patented by King as a "tubular bowstring" bridge. The Iowa Army National Guard brought two CH-47 Chinook helicopters for the lifting, a UH-60 Blackhawk for camera crews, and about 25 personnel from Company B, 2nd Battalion, 211th Aviation (previously known as Detachment 1, Company F, 106th
The soldiers spent about three hours moving the three sections of the bridge, the largest of which weighed 19,400 pounds, just 600 pounds shy of the limit for a Chinook.
