  • Anyone else think that this one sounds a bit "Disney-ish"? It's not terrible (I've heard worse), but just doesn't seem to fit into the mass.

  • @lospadrinos Same here; we hold 1200 people in our church - the primary English mass draws around 900, maybe upwards of 1000 on a good day, but the Spanish mass is always packed, if not standing room only. Part of it is the priest, and part of it is the music. I have had a number of my fellow "gringos" mention to me how upbeat and inviting the music is at the Spanish mass, usually followed by "why can't we do that at the other masses?"

  • Well, I like bobby Fisher's arrangemnet. However, if you are looking for something for a youth choir or praise band, check out "New Catholic Mass Music" or "New Catholic Mass Music Gloria"

  • this kind of pop-ish songs should never make it into mass.

as much as i listen to rock, etc, i do NOT condone these kind of arrangements during mass.

  • Our contemporary mass is packed Sunday evenings- the largest of the 5 masses we offer on weekends. Why can't people praise with whatever fills their heart the most? I'm proud our parish offers two large tradtional choirs, 2 small tradtional choirs, and 2 contemporary bands. How wonderful that our congregation can find a service that fits them best. Start supporting each other Catholics!!!!

  • The Spanish masses are not empty, pretty much standing room only at most Ive seen....

  • @beeme8288 It's also funny why we assume that sacred music = empty pews. Is that something that has been tried frequently the past several decades? Where is your research on that? And that you throw two vulgarities in your post concerns me...

  • @beeme8288 I don't know, based on the last 40 years, I'd say our churches are pretty empty. In terms of people knowing their faith, we're even more empty!

  • @IanSamuel88 it doesnt. part of what makes it good. What would you rather, sacred and an empty Church, or a full Church with those damned HAPPY people... oh shit, imagine that...
