Here's a video of a TCRM excursion on May 07, 2011 running eastbound at Lancaster, TN on the Nashville & Eastern Railroad. As you can see here, the train ran over some seldom-used, weed-grown track on its journey from Nashville to Monterey, TN.

  • This is such a cool and classic scene (would have been neat if the E-unit had an A-200 "honker horn"). Is this an excursion that runs regularly once a year or so?

  • Yes, they run several trips annually. I think their next one is this fall. Some trips are shorter in distance than others. Check their website for all the details.

  • @milespost -Thanks! have some questions, if you don't mind: If you took one of these trips, did you find it enjoyable? Smooth ride or a lot of rough trackage? How long was the ride and was the crew friendly?

  • Yes, the trip was very enjoyable. This was a Nashville-Monterey trip and I split a ticket with a friend, chasing/photographing eastbound and then riding it westbound. I spent a lot of time chatting with friends in the lounge car. Unlike a lot of excursions, they serve booze too! The train has fast running on the commute zone and other areas, but some other stretches have bad track and slow running. The Monterey trips are pretty much an all-day affair, and, yes, the crews were friendly.

  • 8519 was an former Amtrak dining car before it was painted into this.

  • @milespost - Thank you. I'm hoping to someday vacation in Tennessee as there seems to be a number of rail related sights to enjoy. I will certainly research TCRM. God Bless and stay safe =)

  • Boy, thats a big train!

  • I was on that trip. GREAT video of our train rolling past the countryside.

  • AWESOME
