Jews of Color Celebrate Jewish Diversity

Jews of color account for about one-fifth of the world's Jews. Still, to many people, Jewish means white.

Today, a new generation of diverse Jews is coming together to correct that misperception. Individuals from a variety of racial and ethnic backgrounds - some who were born Jewish, others who converted - are using websites, community groups and festivals to meet up and band together.

Their goal is to remind the world that Jews come in all colors - and that, they say, is something to celebrate.

It would be completely backward to actually believe that all Jews were white especially when you consider the origins of the Jewish people & converts always added. I doubt this is an issue in Yisrael where it's the norm to have Jews of all shades. Americans are evidently only exposed to chassidic Jews. Even though I grew up in America, but I knew that Jewish people weren't exclusively white. There's a serious overload of entertainment and lack of education in the US. Scary...

Sorry, but as an Orthodox Jew who converted, I can state with complete certainty that converts who come to Judaism through Orthodox conversion are accepted as fully Jewish. Additionally, any Jew who does not accept them as Jewish is either uneducated or simply racist, either of which are not positive attributes. I have many friends who are Jews of color, both converts and those born Jewish, and no one I would associate with doubts their "Jewishness." It's even a commandment to love the convert!

I say that this is funny because of the fact that In order to be a real jew in Judaism, Your Mother have to be a jew and your genelogy have to be jewish for over 1000 years. those people converted to judaism and dont even know that they aren't accepted by the white jews.
