Michael Suomi's Educational Beliefs at DSST: Cole Middle School

In the past five weeks, I have joined my school, DSST: Cole, in the Cole community of Denver where I have the opportunity to serve an amazing group of 6th grade students as a Science teacher. My passion for teaching remains and sustains me on a daily basis, but since joining my school and community, I have also developed my own core educational beliefs that define my views on what education should look like throughout the country. These beliefs have been inspired by my students, the community, my Principal, my CEO, and my fellow amazingly talented 2011 Teach for America Corps members. These core educational beliefs are now what define me, define what I believe the educational system should look like for every student in the country, and are what drive me to push my students each and every day.
