  • in death on the installment plan he mentions a painting on the wall in his uncle's home. do you remember the name of the painting?

  • @azurenscens no but i will look it up..i would like to know too..thx for comment

  • @BohemianNationalist i just found out recently; it's "The Angelus" by Millet.

  • @azurenscens thank you so much for the information...

  • I'm about halfway through reading death on the installment plan, and the only complaint i have thus far is the incessant repetition of what his parent's think of him. he mentions over and over again how his mother and father see him as an incorrible lazy kid who doesn't appreciate the sacrifices that were made so that he could live. I know that it deserves attention throughout the book, but for it to be mentioned on almost every single page seems like a bit too much.

  • @azurenscens sorta like a Holden Caufield of his day...Celine had a tremendous impact on the American Beat movement...i think it was one reason why it was a movement was for Celine..

  • guignolds band is a great book, the second part is post edited after celines dead, so i dont think he wanted that way, personali i think that the first part is the whole book. And ends kind of mysteriuos. Great black humor

  • Celine was a physician.

    "The doctor of poor people".

    There is more hatefull.

  • @FuttBucker667 thx for comment..i like Knut Hamsun as well...

  • I liked the review, Celine has always been my favorite writter but I don't understand how you could compare him with writers like Pound, Wilde, or Rimbaud. I think he had much more in common with someone like Knut Hamsun. Also, I was annoyed with your little diatribe about multiculturalism at the end, completely unbecoming.

  • I have just read 'Death on the Installment Plan'...588 page novel.what a tremendous book.all of Celines detractors know nothing of his work...dot...dot...dot...lol...Celine depicted man in relation to his world, without any sentimental crap...Merci!!!
