depends on the bullet you use. A controlled expansion bullet such as Winchester Fail Safe or Barnes X or Nosler Partition would hardly damage any meat with a RUM. I shoot hogs at 100 yards and exit wound is less than a baseball size. Moreover the RUM has enough power to break thru tough shoulder bone plates
