What happens when a cold war engineering curriculum meets the real world in an industrial-sponsored senior design program? The failures of the cold war paradigm show up. This presentation discusses 7 quality failures of modern engineering education and how to fix them.
I graduated from Texas A&M in Civil Engineering in 1983, and I'd say this presentation is way off base. Drafting, for example, is a first year requirement. Perhaps these failures are localized rather than systemic. To your credit, I have noticed a marked decrease in the quality of written communications over the years. I notice graduates of all disciplines have too little command over the written word these days. I believe this can be traced to problems in our secondary education system.

This is the problem with all students of applied sciences I think. The only one I would say does not apply directly to all BSc's is problem 6. Not saying BA students are better at everything, just that we might all benefit from each-others strong points.
