@Greebo111 Hi, Gary and Eric Bell both grew up about 3 or 4 miles from where I live in Belfast.It is strange to consider that two other guitar greats that Gary was closely associated with ,namely BB King and Peter Green , are still with us and Gary is dead ! R.I.P Gary and God bless BB and Greeny .

Forget the guitar, it is the player that matter!!! Now that we all go that straight, all will Gary. That is what counts. The guitar might live, but not the player!!

The thing is, You can learn and play the notes that he is, On the same guitar and through the same amp. But getting them to sound like that is something else.

Fender did not make a rosewood strat until '65 and his Green LP was a Goldtop. Sorry but its's still cool.

I have never heard another player make a Les Paul scream musically like Gary could make it .The most expressive ,soulful player ever( who used a Telecaster) ,in my opinion, was Roy Buchannan .

Most of your career you’ve been playing either a Strat or a Les Paul. Are those the two main instruments for you?
GM: Between those two guitars, you really have everything that you need. If you want a very hard hitting sound then the Strat is the guitar for you If you want a very fat sound then the Les Paul covers that for you. It’s wise for any guitarist to have both guitars so you can have the tremolo arm and the fat sound of the Les Paul.
