An Hour at Dovey Junction - Trains, Tractors and Wildlife!

West of Machynlleth, rails divide - one to Aberystwyth and one to Pwllheli. No road access, so I walked and caught the Aber. one leaving. The other I got arriving and departing. Then an hour - with a distant tractor (MF, McCormick - any offers?) and a Barn Owl for company. Geese came too, but too far away. Then the two arrivals came together (bother it) and left at suitable interval for Mac. Snow on the tops dramatised the whole scene.

the station is open at dovey so that if you are going from anywhere on the coast to Aberwstwyth then you can make you connection rather than having a 50/50 chance of getting it at mach

changing at dovey (depending on length of connection time at Mach) is more sensible as u have a guarenteed connection. Also does anyone know when trains to Aber will run hourly?

its predicted to increase when the hourly bham shrewsbury service starts.

Yes. Don't really know why they keep a station at Dovey.

Changing at Mach is more sensible. It was just after Beeching had shut down the Pwllheli Caernarfon line. So to get to London we had the Cambrian Coast trip and changes at Mach, Shrewsbury and Snow Hill, instead of travelling to Bangor and changing at Crewe or Chester.
