Why do suggest his being gay as negative? It didn't hold back Elton John, Freddy Mercury (Queen), Morrissey (The Smiths), Michael Stipe (REM), George Michael, Boy George (Culture Club), Neil Tennant (Pet Shop Boys), Jake Shears (Scissor Sisters), Ricky Martin, Dusty Springfield, Leslie Gore, Tracy Chapman, KD Lang etc etc . And further back it didn't stop Ivor Novello, Noel Coward or Liberace. Or today's young singers like Frank Ocean, Adam Lambert, Jessie J, Rufus Wainwright & Will Ocean etc

This song reminds me of my cousin Kevin Cooper's last year living. We lost him to homicide on April 22, 1986. RIP cuzzin' (1966-1986).

well I am gay but his being gay would be a negative because he did die from AIDS. Very sad, but true.

I worked for BILL GRAHAM FILLMORE PRODUCTIONS in San Francisco, at age 15- 16, in the years 1969 and 1970, and knew J J, as we called Janis Joplin, very well, and I do not hear any distant resemblance of her in the chorus you mention??? ("nah nah nah nah nah nah") J J had a raspy, Southern Comfort coated incredible voice, but precise control. [:-))
