  • Henman should have won this.

  • Even in this match you can see the difference between the two Henmans. For the first set and half he played the right way, then he became overconfident (the slam dunk:) and the old Henman returned - he started running to the net at every opportunity, not waiting for the right ball, making a lot of errors and giving Coria the chance to pass him again and again when his approaches didn't finish in the net or long. He could have won that match in straight sets like Verkerk the year before. :(

  • In this tournament Henman played the best tennis of his career and it wasn't because of a great physical form (he was 30 in 2004), he simply played with the right tactics - rallying patiently from the back of the court, waiting for the right moment to get to the net or hit winner, mixing it up with some drop shots. Henman never had success outside of grass before 2004 because he always tried to get as quick as possible to the net by hitting deep and risky balls which led to many unforced errors.
