Andreea was stripped of her gold medal after testing positive for a banned substance. IIRC, she had a cold and the Romanian doctor gave her some cold pills... The official gold medalist is Simona Amanar. To most gymnastics fans however, Andreea is the true champion.

By the way, this WAG AA competition was without any doubt the most controversial ever: after 2 rotations, it was found out that the vault was set too low - many gymnasts missed their vaults. (Svetlana Khorkina, the favourite fell too) In my opinion, the competition should have been restarted.

the fact that she is performing like this while she is sick and under the influence of a substance that impairs your performance and causes drowsiness is AMAZING!!! real champion!!!

She is still the official champion in my mind. THe bloody substance she tested positive for isn't even banned anymore! How can they not have given this poor girl back her medal yet? Thanks again for the vids skata!

I just pretend that they both tied for the gold. As ridiculous as it was, at least the person they gave it to (Amanar), was a worthy gymnast... but not in this competition. And not that way.

This girl should've been able to have kept that gold medal...she was fabulous and if anything, the medicine that she was given helped her to not fel sick NOT feel 'better' than anyone else that night. Good grief

yeah, i read that. i also read olaru gave amanar the silver. i guess she has nothing but the worlds gold.
