Who am I?
Said I,
To the mirror on the wall
Whose reflection had watched me
Since I was small
Am I who I was born to be?
Or have I yet
To see that someone,
To free that anyone,
Whose fleeting footprints
May dance across history
Leaving that soft trace
Which Time may erase
Or embrace.
I can not tell.
Who am I?
Said I,
To that well of space
Between my shadow and I -
My shadow who follows me everyday
And who will leave no trace
Thereafter my last day.

  • Can I ask one favour?

Can you tell me what ^^ means.

Very embarrassing, but I only know it as the Caret or Exponential symbol.

: ) This is the meagre extent of my abstract symbolic ken.

  • @NovaSpace888 That symbol is used for different meanings by different people. I use it as something akin to the feeling of a twinkle in the eye or sweet excitement/joy :) Like two little eyes perhaps.

  • Hauntingly beautiful thoughts.

I am the 100th like for your video, and I will upgrade that like to a really, really like.

"Know thyself" is one of my favourite maxims. I have had a lot of pleasure in discovering myself, often by observing peoples reactions to me. People can be like the mirror in your poem. As I have very slowly matured and transformed, I have watched the people around me gradually change how they interact with me. Totally fascinating. Thanks for the wonderful video.

  • @NovaSpace888 Thank you very much! That is a favourite maxim of mine too ;)

  • I can't believe it. I just accidentally heard a poem that I actually really really really enjoyed.

  • @forestskog hehe, thank you! :) I know just the feeling, and keep it in mind whenever I write ^^

  • Hi Jennifer,

I am not sure how to leave a response to your response to me (lol), so I will leave another comment : )

Thanks for enlightening me on ^^. I love to learn something new everyday.

To give something back, here is a wiki link to the Raven paradox, in case you haven't already seen it. Note the Nevermore reference. I love a good paradox. Just be sure to have some headache tablets ready, just in case.

    Take care.

  • I just popped a huge stiff

  • I adore your words.

  • Wow - that reminds me a lot of "In Held Twas I" by Procol Harum. Their lyricist, Keith Reid, was a poet from England.
