Seems like it can be an aid in placement regarding direction and angle of growth.

Most transplanted hair (90%) falls out within 3-4 weeks of a transplant. The long hair does give someone a sneak peak but usually it costs double what a normal transplant costs. Not worth it to pay twice as much and yet only enjoy the benefits for 21 days. Your better off just waiting for the new hair to grow in (6 months).

Sam, just spoke to Vance.. like what you guys are doing. I had some long hair done in the spring of LY but only 1/3 of my procedure was long hair. I loved the way it looked rigt after the procedure. Give my best to Emina! Michael Ramsey

what he is not saying is that most of the transplanted hair falls out soon after wards before regrowing again in 2-3 months

that is correct. thanks for the clarification!

I read that the vast majority of newly transplanted hair falls out within ten days of the procedure.
If this is true, wouldn't it be somewhat of a moot(and unnecessarily technical) step to bother with transplanting extra long hairs?

True, to a certain extent. Most stay in for 4 to 6 weeks but some fall out earlier. This is just a way for someone to preview their outcome.
