Roberto D'Alessio was born on April 1,1893 in Vittoria, Sicily. Not much is known about the details of his operatic career. It is presumed that in Piacenza during 1922 he debuted as Fenton in Falstaff. The last recorded information about him as a performer appeared in 1937, so it is assumed that was the last year of his operatic career.

As for his voice it had a beautiful quality and it recorded well. D'Alessio's voice was superbly trained and was in the genre of "tenore di grazia". Roberto D'Alessio died in Tuscany on June 12,1975. He was an excellent artist. Enjoy listening to this lost treasure.

  • he is amazing - gorgeous voice - expression - squillo - control of his dynamics and breath is perfect...why haven't we heard more of him?

  • Wonderful sound!

  • A distinctive, beautiful timbre, technical skill, and expressive singing combine to make this an excellent performance. A pity this superb tenor is not better known. Thanks for posting.
