This movie is just like the matrix. I think the only deffirence is the matrix uses metaphors were this movie tries to be more realistic(lol). The matrix everyone is pluged into a computer program a symbol for people being asleep and brainwashed by the media to not know the truth. Matrix the system is controled by machines where as this movie it is a facist goverment. If you like symbolism watch the matrix, if you want a more plausable/realistic movie watch this.

@Stay0in0Shadow 100% agree. I think they tried to sell it was a matrix type movie (which wyhen i saw the trailer i thought it was going to be like the matrix) However like u say the movie is much MUCH more deeper than some matrix rip off.

I think this is one of those movies, which is much more better, greater, deeper and cooler, than the trailer showes. If I would have seen the trailer before the movie, I'm not sure, if I would have watched it. It look just like one of those see-my-bloody-revenge-you-bastards-I'm-gonna-beat-your-ass-movies...and I'm no a fan of that.

I agree that this trailer sells the movie short. However, I find revenge films to be one of the most classic and satisfying of movie genres. A character is wronged, usually in a bloody and cruel manner and wreaks vengeance upon his tormentors. A universal staple of storytelling. Of course Equilibrium isn't one of those films.
