  • I love Frisian music, and this is an example why. At first I thought this was actually English with a heavy accent, until I heard "ik", which no dialect of English still uses. This is very fun to listen to.

    Thats real frysk ;)

  • @MVillani1985 Your quite on the right way, Frysk looks alot like Germanic, I dont think you can learn Frysk in any place but Fryslân itself.

  • Hi

Iemand enig idee waar ik in Engeland kan leren Frysk?

  • @petelucas51 Well, there isn't a place I know of where you can learn Frysk in the UK, but I do know that the Northumbrian and Kentish dialects bear a lot of similarities with Frysk. One thing I realized upon thinking about it is that the somewhat "nasally" vowel sounds may have some kind of root in the Celtic languages in the British Isles.

I've noticed a lot of English loanwords being adopted in most languages in Europe, oddly enough, some are cognates of preexisting words.

  • @MVillani1985 Thanks for that. I read the Vowel Shift was caused by the Great Plague causing social mobility in England and a standard way of speech. I think English has and continues to change radically as a living language. I believe since my time in Europe in the 70s English as a world language continues to influence all European tongues apart from pehaps French who have a peculiar attitude to English.. Any idea where I can learn Frysk in the UK? I dislike correspondance courses Thanks
