I have to keep in mind that this is a dramatization and not historically accurate. For instance, when Henry married Catherine Parr, he was very ill and could barely walk at all, and was grossly obese. According to the historical records, Henry was tall, over 6', and with a much stronger build. He had red-gold hair which was not worn short especially when young. The best portrayer of Henry VIII in my opinion was Keith Michell. It was astonishing how much he actually looked like the real Henry.

@tayl0147 His mistress, Elizabeth Blount

of course it is historically incorrect - they need attractive actors to get views; the real tudors would have had rotting teeth as they didn't brush them, and only bathed about 4 times a year... and that was the upper class. i think the series is very well done but not at all completely correct; wolsey's death for example. actors are so good that i can't really stop watching despite the mistakes... it's fucking shit that the americans pronounce 'tudors' wrong and say it at the beginning though.

These series are the most historical incorrect of all filmed or recorded. The actor does not look at all like the real Henry VIII. Not even in Henry VIII youth he was slender. In real history, when marrying Catherine Howard, Henry was already impotent and his ulcerous wound was produced by gout. In the series, the wound is a badly treated injury made by falling from a horse and Henry is still sexually capable at age of 45.
In the series Henry does not become fat until a week before his death.

Who was the one to give him a son? I don't watch the series but I am intrigued!

@Galather0 It is "Greensleeves," which is rumored to have been written by HVIII himself

What in Gods name is that song! Its going to drive me crazy, when I was little my mom would hum me that tune in order to calm me down.
Such a beautiful melody.

I thought that Steven Waddington would have made a better Henry the VIII>
He looks the part and is a damned excellent actor!
His eyes are gorgeous.

i think it is original, i mean all Henry the VIII movies have him as an aging fat turkey leg eating old man
but this series show him as he is : a man - mainly a young good looking man
Granted someone who was too cocky for his own good , a perve who was too fond of the axe to get his way
but he was still a human with good point and bad point
