I do get annoyed by the smallest stuff. The O2 splash screens are one of them. They do seem to slow down the whole boot up process of HTC Desire.

  • hey can you tell me whats the main difference between a branded desire and one from o2 except the boot logo. i want to buy the phone but the unbranded is 50-70 euro more expensive. :/

  • @YoungDipCLP That is basically it, the branding is the O2 boot logo, and whatever else they decide to stick in as part of their firmware build.

  • Are you sure the phone just doesn't take that long to boot? A lot of HTC Android phones take a couple of minutes - that actually seemed quite quick.

  • @m4tt3m50n It bugs me, cause I am sure the splash screen are slowing the boot process. It is supposed to be one of the quickest smart phones about, I would like the opportunity to see how fast :)

  • Branding does suck but you can flash the ROM and remove it

Just goggle unrevoked htc desire and install their rom which is the default rom

  • @techfan42 Ahh good tip many thanks will use the power of Google right now :)

  • omg o2 wtf!

  • i have the same desire (O2). however, i live in a totally different country with a totally different mobile operator (my desire is simply imported from the UK i guess).

so what i want to know is that when OFFICIAL updates get pulled out for the desire, am i going to have to wait for O2 to release an update, or can i just install them directly from htc?

  • @ernmander all o2 has done is replaced the htc quietly brilliant annimation with the o2 one three did this too me -.- but it got removed when I hacked it up to froyo but its not rooted :D :E

  • anyone any ideas how to unlock this phone from o2?
