The main aspect that will call your attention is the level design, it's just perfect, and the scenarios really look interesting, even tough they don't have ExGFX or any other kind of customized graphics.
I could say that the first levels are perfect, and I mean, PERFECT: Balanced enemies, awesome level design, and mostly, perfect difficulty.
But wow, that last one's gonna change, and badly.
As soon as you start to progress in the game (oh well, as soon as clear a very few levels), the difficulty starts to change dramatically, actually, it shocks you out when you first notice the change.
So yes, I consider the difficulty as the weak point of the game, the scenarios start to get really long and hard, forcing you to use savestates (which, as you know, aren't comfortable at all), there even are cases where you are about to finish a level and then suddenly anything falls on you or something like that (killing you) making you wish to throw the controller (oh, and you call it "Damn controller!") to the screen.
And yes, there are white mini bars to help you continue there later, but seriously, it's not that useful.
Oh, and the first castle speaks by itself (it's really self explanatory).
You know that everybody hates a hard hack, because of the insane difficulty ruins the gameplay.
Though, the difficulty is the ONLY bad aspect about this hack meaning that it's still playable, well, sort of.
The excellent level design simply makes the game unique, it keeps surprising you as you keep playing, it's a great and indescribable experience, at least on the first run.
Also, there is an special ambience on the hack, you feel that the game was done carefully and that effort was put on it, it even makes you forget the difficulty.
Another thing that makes the hack worth it, are the secrets, as there are a lot of things to do, also, the hack comes with a list of achievements that helps the hack to have an excellent replay value.
But should you try this game?
If you are a veteran-expert gamer, sure!
But if you don't, I recommend you to keep practicing on the original SMW or try an easier hack, as this one isn't for you.
So yeah, that's all for my part, and this is how the first season of reviews ends.
And remember, be a wise reviewer, not a compulsive one.
Have a great day!

And stay tuned!

  • @ProjectMATHEW It's meant to be a hack of the original Super Mario World, bro.

  • No No no no no no no no no.

  • i did not know about those extra hidden areas

  • how is this a review if you dont talk at all

  • where do i download this rom?

  • there are hidden areas that are much harder than those shown in the video, but they since they are hidden you could say they're optional

  • Hmm. I can see where an unexpierienced player might have trouble, but a veteran could easily get through these. I thought the special world levels seemed hader than these levels.

  • @Marin766, you plug it in, you set the keys, and that's it.

  • @prometheus112 the spin jump was what first caught my eye, which i hadn't seen previously

  • @ProjectMATHEW really?? That's interesting, what exactly is in the new one that seems the same as this ? I made it before the new one came out.
