  • I use a Daiwa Egi (Squid) rod they make a few models. The key to a good squid outfit is a rod that casts jigs well.has quite a slow taper and a reel with a smooth drag.Once hooked you want your outfit to absorb the squid fighting so that you don't pull it off the jig.If I rated it it would be a rod suited to 4-6kg line.

    Hope that helps

  • what are those jigs called

  • @SFfisherman Black Magic!

  • Try different weights but 2.5 -3 are most common and 4 in big current.Try varying the size of the jig as well.

  • perfect thank you so much

  • What Test curve would you recommend for squid fishing of jettys/harbours ?

  • I have to disagree with the statement made about squid fishing during the colder months. In Australia I target squid all year round and they are always there , land based as well. What I find is the squid tend to be more active during the warmer seasons and less active during winter. In saying that they are still there during winter, also i tend to catch the bigger ones during winter.

  • wow that diving spot looks absolutely amazing

  • in china we fished everything out now we come here and catch everything small big we dont care we eat the lot.
