Chucky Press Conference 12.5.07

Coach Chucky's weekly press conference. For anyone who wants to blame Chucky on his fourth loss in five games, Chucky points the finger at... the other teams. Why? With one week of regular season action left - and Chucky now 8-5 and tied for second with three other teams (statistically in third place, behind two teams tied at 9-4), no teams have clinched any playoff spots! So this weekend, five teams will enter, but only four will proceed. Could the odd team out be "7-3-0" (now 8-5-0), against whom Chucky holds the tiebreaker after beating them twice this season? A favorable matchup approaches in Week 14 - the 5-8 KPChiefs, whom Chuck beat handily last time.

And while Chucky lost his Week 13 matchup to a bunch of truly "second string scrubs" (Gus Frerotte? Earnest Graham?), he can once again claim victory over Carson Palmer. This is the third time Chucky had contained the Bengals quarterback - and just happened to be the third time in a row he faced Carson in a night game. Yet Chucky's last-minute decision to finally start Jay Cutler didn't help his cause, or Cutler's, this leads to some big questions heading into this weekend. If Chucky comes up short against a team that expects Donovan McNabb to return, and suffers a fifth loss in six games... does he even belong in the playoffs?
