maximum cruise speed \cruise altitude?
-
@colindhowell Thanks I really appericate the information alot .Wow 315 is not slow to me but to the jets of nowdays i guess it is.
-
@arkansastrash320 That's a DC-6A, so engines are 2400-2500 hp each, or 9600-10000 hp total. Top speed is 360 mph at 18000 feet. Cruising speed is 315 mph. FAA lists never-exceed indicated airspeed as 346 mph; at sea level, that's a more realistic max--push it harder and you risk damaging the airframe. For hard maneuvering like the guy was doing here, you're supposed to keep it under 213 mph, again to avoid damaging the airframe.

Is this airplane in regular service?

WOW. Unbelievably sweet music, those airplanes. I especially liked the low-and-slow flyby.. sweet!

old planes rule!!

@julosx He is pushing it, 70 or 75 degrees or so. But he's got the airspeed up so, hey, if management signed off on it, what the Hell.

@VerdantMoon no it's not. they're sisters. one does not excel the other. each one has its glory at its own time.

One of my favorite planes of all time. Beautiful! Wonderful aerobatics, and it shamed the DC-3 big time.
This plane is absolutely fantastic. Awesome sound from those radials.

@VerdantMoon Improved upon it yes,as did the "4", but nothing shames the DC-3.
