I´m from Madrid. And yes, all americans are surprised on how much more freedom we have. As unfortunately I was surprised when I wen to the USA with the opposite. Lived in Baltimore Texas and Miami for about 6 years. Great people, buta bit of a crazy society to me, too many laws, too tough and too many cops.

It felt weird to leave the house and keep reminding yourself of all the laws (lot of them just let you with plain lack of freedom of choice) and all the cops watching etc. It didn´t feel right. It was this exact reason what at the end made me leave the country :(
people was great, the system...not that much
come visit any time
regards

@vbdenny yeah it would make more sense if the engineers set the speed limits and not the politicians, but no the states want to have everything their way.

yeah, i live in colorado springs CO, and the speed limit between throughout the city and south of it is 65 mph, other than that, the max is 75, but people still break the 65 mph speed limit

@vbdenny you americans get freaked out about texas thinking to push the speed limit to 85. i just can lough because this is a pretty standart speed for my crappy little fiat seicento. and when i rent a car i always push it until it wont go any faster. this is why i love germany!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Deutsche Autobahnen sind die besten (wenn es um Geschwindikeit geht)!!!!!!!!!

Thank God... VA's one of the more boring states to drive through from NY to SC
i live in colorado springs CO, and the speed limit here, even in the outskirts it's still 65, but people still break it

@dudesons90 Speed Limits are the most broken law in the country. I attribute that to the fact that politicians not engineers set the speed limits. I think states know how much money they would lose to put them at a reasonable limit.

I heard Governor McDonnell is working to sign legislation to raise rural interstate speed limits to 70 mph.

I guess it is still alive. They oughta make it 75 since everyone goes at least that anyway. The new Governor is screwing Hampton Roads just like they all do. Everything for NOVA.
