I consider those who would look at horses as a meat animal as being a little bit less civilized than the rest of us. Horses have been raised as working animals and companion animals for thousands of years, while cows are the designated main meat animal. If people would make the CHOICE to not eat horse meat, that alone would stop most slaughter. But the problem remains, of too many horses and not enough good homes for them. Overbreeding has to be stopped and that is the best answer.

I've seen a lot of my friends in the horse world argue each way on this subject. For those who say this must stop, I was curious if that means horse slaughter or horse abuse at slaughter? Would you be okay with horse slaughter if it was properly regulated so that abuse is very minimal, or is the whole practice of killing horses for meat unacceptable to you? If so, is all animal slaughter not okay or just horses? Honest question I would like to know how people feel. (I own a QH and mini)

the USA just lifted the ban on horse slaughter. They kept it quiet, knowing people would protest it. Too many people breed without thinking of the consequences.

Honestly there are some fucked up people but if they stop slaughter houses where will they go! they will just leave them to starve to death! this happens because people over breed them all the time i mean if they are going to do it have them do it respectfully not what that guy did to the poor horse!! this is bullshit how can u send such a beautiful animal to be killed :(

Okay I don't agree with slaughtering a healthy animal at all. But if you are going to do it, be respectful of the animal. Like the part of the guy pulling the horse down on it's head! What the hell's wrong with people? What kind of world has this turned into that that kind of treatment would be okay?
