Altho I've got a different problem on mine with relation to the engine (broken on receipt of mouse), the tracking on the mouse is flawless. It doesn't skip for me, and tracks in a uniform fashion with mouse accelaration turned off.
Either your model is defective, you need to update the setpoint software, or you're using it on a surface you shouldn't be using it on.

I love this mouse too, I have it and is great, for the Laser technologie, the cordless function and the foward and back bottons.

I have this same mouse and love it! Its the best mouse I have ever owned. I must point out though, that if your a serious gamer, go for a G5 or a G7 over this one, because this one doesn't feel quite right for gaming.

i got this mouse for christmas of 06, and it sucks so horribly. dont even think about using it for gaming or any 3d application. it skips like crazy. believe me i cant stand it. also the little usb thing is easy to lose (i cant find mine anywhere!) also it doesnt glide across the surface smoothly.

not really. its a little heavier then some mice, but i've gotten used to it. it really works great. i got 3.
