Greatstick 2

Simon (in blue, on the left) and I (in black, on the right) doing some more Greatstick ala Hutton's Cold Steel. Towards the end, I manage to get a French Head Parry in, but it's quite hard to see.

Nice video, what are you guys sparring with? Rattan? Pvc? How is the impact? I'm looking for an idea for some sparring staffs. Thanks.

Hi. Hutton recommend 'A stout rattan cane, five feet in length'. What we're using are rattan bo-staffs, cut down to 5 feet. Very cheap from an e-bay seller, very quick and easy to prepare (although one of them is starting to split now, and has had to have a bit of tape wrapped round it. Downside of rattan I suppose.)

Great fighting, still it is very important that you and your training partner invest in hockey gloves, and allow shots to the hands/wrists. Boxing wraps underneath the hockey gloves are also highly recommended.
