Never heard of Satriani until I saw this (and taped it) off the television. Bought a cd very soon afterwards. He makes it look so easy....but it ain't...I've tried!

I remember watching this on BBC back in 92, i had just picked up a guitar for the first time the year before and this series of guitar legends inspired me to carry on playing, only as a hobby though. But it is fab to see that you've captured the whole lot on You Tube. Good on you.

Yes it was. Apart from the techniques he developed himself (such as the lizard down the throat), his whole approach to composition and application of technique was unique at that time. Without the success of his early albums, Mike Varney wouldn't have set up Shrapnel Records, and guys like Marty Friedman, Jason Becker and Paul Gilbert wouldn't have had a solo career. Do a little research yourself.
