How to determine if the AC Adapter Power Supply Charger you have been sold is a fake counterfeit or the real deal. The country is being flooded with cheap, knockoff, junk AC Adapters. They are very dangerous, because they are made of substandard components. They can internally combust (catch fire) without any warnings. The fake AC Adapters look genuine, but don't be fooled by the label. I estimate that 95% of the AC Adapters sold on Ebay are fake. The fake AC Adapters used in my public service announcements were purchased on ebay. Ebay has systematically driven the sellers of genuine brand name products from its site in favor of the counterfeit sellers who operate out out of the same area as Ebay. Almost all fake ebay adapters come in through San Francisco. I firmly believe the counterfeit sellers are loosely connected and that they have connections with people working at Ebay. From my experience I learned that If you report a seller to Ebay for selling counterfeit AC Adapters, Ebay will punish you in retaliation for making the report. The same gang of criminals that operate out of Ebay also sell their garbage to almost every website in the US selling AC Adapters. GetAdapters.com is one of the few sellers left who knows how to determine counterfeits from clever knockoffs, and GetAdapters.com does not associate with the criminal network pushing fakes all over the US and the world. The US government refuses to act even though they know what's up. Can't offend the Chinese criminals. They might buy less treasury bonds next month if we stop the flow of counterfeits. The customs people allowing the fakes through must be getting rich. Bottom line, if you buy one of those brand new 9.99 adapters from a seller located in China, or the San Francisco Bay area, don't say you weren't warned. If your house burns down because it combusts, remember, you saved 20 bucks on the AC Adapter that ruined your life. Hopefully you won't kill any family members with a knockoff AC Adapter, but it's a distinct possibility.

  • Yeah.. I bought a fake ac adapter for my dell latitude on ebay for 10 bucks, and all it does is power on my laptop, but it doesn't charge the battery. If I'm lucky in some days and wait patiently, it will sometime charge. LOl.. Sucks, but it saved me from losing all my work, and I'm thinking about purchasing another one but this time it has to be genuine.

  • I bet it weighs light and gets hot too. They have the real Dell Pa-6, Pa-10, Pa-12, etc. at GetAdapters site. JR

  • If the ac adapter works one day and then the next day it failed to charge the main lithium ion battery, then that means that the current source of the ac adapter is inconsistent in it's Voltage output. Your DVM meter will be constant, but the current ampere is what varies. Therefore ntermittentency has to do with the power transistors used in the design, which in most cases when engineering reliability issues exits and are overstressed by thermal runaway, devices become unstable.

  • it might be cheap and substandard ...but it is also ...cheap lol
