I've been playing with the XOR logic gates to make minecart tracks switch directions in Minecraft! Speed up transportation to your different camps, retreive your items easier after dying, and have fun speeding accross your world!
Remember!!!:
* Always have your indicator lights and the swtich track receive power from the output of the 1st XOR gate.
* When you add the subsequent gates, their output feeds the input of the predeceeding (sp?) gate.
* Hitting that switch on approach to the intersection requires a very carefully timed strike. Furtunately it's fun to practice!
* I generally use a shovel to flip the switches on approach. Not because I think they make it easier to switch, but more out of homage to Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom...
* Yes, that was a tree growing inside by base toward the end of the video. Let me know if you want me to show you how to do this.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Have fun!

Here are diagrams for all the redstone logic gates in Minecraft. You will see the XOR gate on there:

uuggghhh i miss the old minecart days.....detector/powered rails are a pain in the ass....

@Srlancelot39 yeah... me too. I haven't played much at all since the 1.7 update, and i think i may like the adventure update with the whole nutrition system even less.

thank you soooo much. i purchase minecraft a few days ago and i am struggling with the redstone circuitry. been trying to make a way to have a track direction switch that works from multiple locations; this is perfect. of course you said it wasn't your brainchild, but regardless, thank you.

@Kochopsticks11 you're welcome! I didn't "invent" the XOR logic gate but as far as I can tell I was the first to use it like this.

is there a way to make it where the current goes over the track and still switchable

@94885haha ? i have a little bridge that I made for the redstone to cross the track. is that what you're asking? track technically occupies a cube and so does redstone, so they can't occupy the same cube.
