It might look like they are having more issues then in the past but don't forget that those incidents (the minor onces) did not make the media until some years ago. Nowadays just about everything that happens is being blown up by the media and get to the internet (like twitter and such) so we now all know about it. That's modern times for you. I hardly think that Qantas has any (more) safety or maintenance issues then say 5 or 10 years ago. Just my two cents.

I like Qantas, being an Aussie myself. In-fact until recently, they had an absolutey flawless safety record, without a single major incident. Considering they're the oldest airline around, this was pretty cool. Although lately, I have lost some respect for them, with their string of mishaps. Perhaps it's because they moved a large portion of their maintenance offshore (to somewhere in Asia) in 2005. Qantas need to get back to their old selves, employing aussie talent and doing things on-shore.

@SpiritQueen I agree with you I always fly with Singapore or Thai (Star alliance) great service, Qantas are over priced, shit service and an aviation disaster waiting to happen

I love qantas :D Whenever I do get on a plane, it's qantas <3 I always travel to Aussie with them :) I think their services and their planes are awesome! I've never flown in a big one though :P Only in the small ones that you fly in for like 2 hours or so.
I still feel safe about them... Probably because it hasn't happened in my area yet :P

yeh i'd feel comfortable with flying with quantas..it's tiger airways im scared of..they so cheap probably crash down or something..:S the prices are too good to be true!

You would never catch me on a qantas flight and hey I am an aussie...when I fly os I only fly singapore in aus virgin blue all the way.......
