Happy Jack wasn't old, but he was a man.
He lived in the sand at the Isle of Man.
The kids would all sing, he would take the wrong key,
So they rode on his head in their furry donkey.
The kids couldn't hurt Jack,

They dropped things on his back,

But they couldn't stop Jack, 'or the waters lapping,
And they couldn't prevent Jack from being happy.

@doctorzaius77 It's Roger's cockney accent that makes it sound like he's saying "tall". Great video. Too bad THE WHO didn't have their own cartoon show like Jackson 5 or a sitcom like the Monkees.

This is an excellent video to a wonderful song. It grieves me to be compelled to downrate it because the embedding has been blocked. Why do the recording labels insist on making their music become obscure and forgotten when increased exposure would be better for everyone involved.

@YellowLickilickyXL Thank you. I thought nobody would agree. It's just the way it looks. The way they're all doing the same animations over and over again, and not even much in time to the music. I mean look at the way Keith is drumming. Terrible. And the way Roger keeps bobbing his head up and down. Did they deliberately draw them in such a crappy fashion?

This song is beyond pimp.
Now Ive listened to this song a thousand times and I know the lyrics are posted as "Happy Jack wasnt OLD but he was a man" ........To anybody else does it sound like they say "Happy Jack isnt TALL but he is a man"....I ask because everytime I listen to it I swear they say TALL instead of OLD. Anyways, the song kicks ass.

Now that you mention it .......You may be on to something here!!!!!! Seriously, I've listened to this son a thousand times and I think you might have discovered something. Your lyric (tall) makes more sense to me then old.......hmmmmm Very interesting....;-)
