"The Sammy Awards: Celebrating the life of Rev. Jean Luc Phanord"
The DR Mission team of Wallingford, CT holds a fundraiser annually to send down over 100 local missionaries to help the poor Haitians in the Dominican Republic. The fundraiser includes a pasta dinner, silent auction, and a fantastic show.
The show will feature the "Sammy Awards" - recognizing those who have made a difference on the mission team over the years. Many people have been nominated, but only few will win! This is also a celebration of life of Rev. Jean Luc Phanord, the founder of the Good Samaritan hospital and the entire mission in the Dominican Republic. Rev. Phanord tragically died in the American Airlines crash in Queens, NY on Nov. 12, 2001. His wife, Elza Phanord, along with the administrator of the hospital, Moises Sifren, will be at the event to celebrate Rev. Phanord's wonderful life.
