As a courtesy. They always play the opposing team's song -- either to compliment their hosts or welcome their guests.

I had the pleasure of being at this match, and I have to say, despite our rivalry, ND's band was quite enjoyable to watch. Fully deserved the standing ovation much of the crowd gave them after their halftime show, imho.

the ND marching band plays USC's song better than their band. but the irish fight song is the best in the land!

I live in Socal but got to say that Notre Dame's band and fight song is the best ever.

I may dislike ND being a Trojan Alum, but the ND Band is terrific. They have a terrific sound. UCLA on the other hand? I've heard better High School Bands, and my daughter is in one. What Stanford does is even worse, what a disgrace.

@GSJ61191 I'm sure the Irish Band will come to USC while you're there. I am in South Bend and my son was in the ND band in 2003. I hope you are doing well in the Trojan Band. I love it when USC comes to Indiana. Even though the football team doesn't do too well against USC, it's always a great day!

ND does have a very good band. Seen them at this game, and in South Bend a few times. Well Dr. Kenneth Dye is a Trojan so that helps.
