Unconditional love means living life and understanding death, the age-old conflict. In this excerpt from the book, Internal Power Seven Doorways to Self Discovery by Harold W. Becker, he shares that one of our greatest fears is fear of death, and many of us spend so much time in fear and worry about death that we never learn to live. Unconditional love is knowing that we are unlimited beings capable of anything we put our minds to. We can fly to the moon, call a friend five thousand miles away, or watch a spectacular sunset. So why do we become preoccupied with thoughts of death when there is so much to live for? For more please go to www.thelovefoundation.com

He continues usually, we view our lives in the limited scope of our physical bodies and material surroundings. We have been taught that when people die everything about them goes away. Yet their memories, teachings, ingenuity, experiences, and spirit all live on in all of us.

Another fact worth pondering is that science tells us our physical bodies renew all our cells generally within a year. That means our bodies of today are essentially different from our bodies of a year ago. If so, then are we not already physically dying every moment of every day? Are we not giving new life giving birth to new cells every moment of every day? Is it possible, then, that we are really far more than just our physical bodies?

What has caused us to fear the idea of death? Is it perhaps that we really fear life? Is living life so difficult for many of us that we focus on our impending deaths as a way to avoid living? Do we fear the unknown of life after death? Do we fear losing our physical bodies or the pain associated with death? As with thoughts of guilt and worry, if we remain fear-based we cannot tap into our unlimited potential through unconditional love.

How can we overcome the fear of death? We simply stop and reflect. Ask ourselves, What does my death mean to me and why would I fear it? Many of us have been taught to suppress our fear of death and not talk about it. When we approach our lives with unconditional love, however, not only can we speak of death, we can overcome our fear of it. It is our choice. We can recognize the fear as a thought perspective, and we can assure ourselves that death is not something to fear; rather it is a natural process of life. When we honestly understand the thoughts we have associated with death, we can get back to living. Our unconditional love for ourselves will truly translate into our unlimited being as we go forth and live life. This is Internal Power.
