Since when did the oil companies business become the government's business to run? The government alredy runs the regulations that tell the oil companies where, when, what, and how they can drill: also how they have to build new refineries... etc. Does the government actually get to chair the Board of Directors now? Are they now in the position to say how much profit a company is allowed to make? Isn't profit the point of business? Would you like to trade your freedom for discount oil sir!

You know what's really funny about the price of gas? It's the only product you can think of wherein taxes are already added to the price prior to the point of sale. You don't even see the price of GAS. If you saw what your state and federal congresses are charging you per gallon, you'd realize that they don't really care about this gas dilemma. Federal gas tax as of 2005 is $0.184 PER GALLON! And the average state gas tax is another $0.22 PER GALLON! As we know, that ads up fast Tom. Fix THAT!
