@ndorow also, they follow the light of the moon (which is on the ocean side) so that's why they don't want people with lights or flash photography because then they'll follow that.

i wen to the beach the other day and saw two sea turtle nests but they were covered by sand and there were ropes around it, it wuz so cool

little ones use moon and stars reflections over the sea and they go to the moving reflections.thas way when they r hatching, you don't use any outside light like torch, flashlights, beach camp fire ect.=))

Mother Nature and natural instinct directs them to the water. How is that for an answer. Honestly, its the best I can do.

I didn't as i was operating the camera. Other volunteers (with gloves on) gently nudged the turtles back into the trench if they started to wander.

Volunteers wear gloves to protect the turtles from any potentially harmful bacteria and/or chemicals (ie: suntan lotions, insect repellent, etc.) that might be on their hands and to protect themselves from any possibly harmful bacteria that the turtles may be carrying.
