The bridge that carries KY 80 across the north Fork of the Kentucky River in Perry County is available -- free of charge -- to anyone willing to take possession, reassemble and maintain it. The bridge was built in 1929. It's a Parker truss construction and is 456 feet long. It's also eligible for inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places. If a suitable new owner is found, the Transportation Cabinet will pay for the costs of match-marking, disassembling and transporting the bridge to the new owner. That's provided that these costs don't exceed the cost of demolition. Contact the Environmental Coordinator at the Highway District office in Jackson by calling 606-666-8841. The deadline for submitting proposals is December 20th.
