i too am almost 40 and we are lucky to have heard it then. great music. i still dig out my flannels. the music meant something and sounded like the angst we felt inside at that time... no bubblegum shit

I watched Pearl Jam 20 a couple nights ago and this song has been running in my head since, just like back in high school. I often wonder if mainstream music will ever embrace this kind of creativity again. I am passed the point of being pissed about it. I'm just grateful that I lived to experience it.
