From 1929, this was Hoover's first try at a suction-only cleaner. It was never meant to be a rug cleaner, but would do a decent job on bare floors and upholstery and general dusting. Production dates are from August - November 1929, and 9004 of them were made. I know of about 5 of them in private collections.
This was a gift to my collection from the HHC, as a thanks for doing some research for them.

  • Hey Jeff, is this not Model 200B? I thought the 200 had its switch on the side of the motor, rather than on the cord?

  • I checked it Jack, the model number is stamped on the bottom of the fan housing, it just reads "model 200"

  • That's odd...perhaps some Model 200s had the cord switch also...I thought the design change occurred when 200B was launched, but I must be wrong!

  • Could this have been a UK thing? The records I have for the US model just lists production dates(August to November 1929) and prices. No mention of a 200b.

  • @hoover1060 deos this machine have good suction? i had one a while back before someone broke into my storage unit.

it never seemd to have great suction even though i took it apart made sure it wasnt cloged and i cleaned it up

  • @animebsd Its ok suction for its day, its not Electrolux suction though...

  • What is the point of it?

  • It sounds a lot like an old forge blower a friend of mine has. The thing runs at 5000 rpm.

  • I was once told this was nothing more than an upright motor mounted sideways in a new case... not so, it is similar to the motors Hoover was using in its uprights, but this is more powerful.

  • That thing is amazing sounding! I love it.
